Are you like me? Always having to buy new lip balms because you lose them everywhere or because your kids take them and don't remember where they've put them?
I have the perfect solution for you! Make Your Own Organic Lip Balm in 5 Minutes!
It will not only cost you less but you can be as creative as you want with the recipe! Also, an added benefit of making your own homemade lip balm is that you have complete control over the ingredients you use. That means no more chemicals or shady named additives which you don't even know what they are.
It's also a great activity to do with your kids. They might finally stop taking your lip balms and use theirs instead :)
All it takes is about 5 minutes of your time, a couple ingredients, some kitchen tools, and you're off to making your own supply of lip balms with the scent you love best.
What you will need to make your own organic lip balm:
- 2 tbsp of Organic Coconut Oil
- 2 tbsp of Organic Shea Butter
- 2 tbsp of Organic Beeswax
- Your favorite Food Grade Essential Oil (a couple drops to your liking)
- A Heat Resistant Glass Measuring Cup or bowl
- Some Lip Balm Tins or Lip Balm Containers
This is not the only lip balm recipe on the web but it's one that I've personally tried and really liked the end result. So I'm sharing it with you so you can try it yourself.
Now for the instructions:
- Add the Organic Coconut Oil, the Organic Shea Butter and the Organic Beeswax in the glass container and put in the microwave for 30 seconds at a time until it's all melted (must not boil!)
- Stir the mix
- Add a few drops of your favorite Food Grade Essential Oil until the scent is to your liking
- Stir the mix again
- Fill your Lip Balm Tins or Lip Balm Containers quickly before the mix hardens
- Let it rest for a couple hours so it cools down completely
That's it! You've got your own supply of fresh organic homemade lip balms that you can share with your family and friends! Also, you could add some vitamin E in the mix for better moisturizing.
If you still find it easier to just buy your lip balms or just don't feel like making your own, these are my favorite ones:
